The Tactical Logistics Of Strategic Objectives
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
A Strategic Plan sees the picture, Tactical Maneuvers paint the details. I founded my 1st company with nothing but faith and a reputation of excellence. I added a partner 5 years later; an expert in running the operations of our industry. Each of us operated within our strength knowing that ownership comes with responsibility.
The ultimate goal of any "Enterprising Leader" is to surround themselves with people who add value to the company. The mission was to find people of character who could think beyond a job description. My greatest accomplishment in business was creating success stories with employees who became superstars.
My Strategic Plan included an "exit strategy"; there was no evidence of selling a small service company. I needed 3 Directors and the Best Employees on the planet running the company. But in 2016, a broker said he had over 90 investment firms interested in buying. I sold CMS/CMR for an EBITDA value of $16 million; it's amazing what God can do with a vision mixed with faith.
“The years of anxious searching in the dark, with their intense longing, their alternations of confidence and exhaustion, and final emergence into the light—only those who have experienced it can understand that.” ~Albert Einstein
“I salute the man who is going through life always helpful, knowing no fear, and to whom aggressiveness and resentment are alien.” ~ Albert Einstein
The success I've enjoyed over the last 30+ years was based on a lifetime of overcoming adversity, failure was never an option. I looked to God for guidance and used what He gave me to become a gifted entrepreneur. There was nothing I could not do; it seemed I was able to bring every dream to reality.
But it wasn't always that way!! I believed God turned His back on me after years of abuse. Angry at everyone, most of all myself, I turned my back on God when I was 15 and dove "head-first" into drugs & alcohol. But on June 1, 1990, God saved me on treatment and I never drank again. In fact God was the One Person who never left!!
What I wanted most in this world was to be "Heard", but I had no voice. Today I have no doubt God called me to "stand up" and speak for those who have no voice of their own and make a difference in their lives. Having raised 3 daughters, I especially have a heart for women. I have a gift of depth and understanding, but I what I am able to apprehend, I will never comprehend!!
Now I see every mountain as an opportunity to help others, thinking less of myself and more of those who give my life "Purpose and Meaning". I have strong presence, a large platform, a huge audience, and little problem using them to say what needs to be said. There is no greater cause, no greater purpose, and no greater story than one of "Faith, Hope, and Love"!
The legacy I hope to leave behind is not one of success, fortune, or fame; I want to be known as man who helped rather than hurt. That someday people would say of me; "Tim gave more than he received, gave voice to the voiceless, stood up for the helpless, and put his hand to the flame pulling out those in need". If that is not my legacy; I was nothing more than an "Empty Suit”; all talk with no substance!!
