Lessons Of The Past Prepared Me for The Future

With no money or source of income, I began my first company in 1990 at 31. I don't know if I was insane, but my mind was never so clear. To me, quitting a job I going "no where" was the only option, to my wife and the rest of the world it was absurd. I knew it was time to accomplish that which everyone said was impossible. I discovered it was "God's Presence" that drew customers to me, yet I barely knew Him. But 3 months later I was saved on a treatment bed on June 1st, 1990. If God was for me, who could come against me?
The Lord gave me an eye for detail as I was making my way into the business world. But that strength became my greatest weakness as an owner. I began to see everything up to 2 years before it happened. I surrounded myself with people who could run the operations of the business so I could focus on growth. Humility understands there is always someone better standing next to you!

People ask me, what was my greatest achievement in business? Helping someone reach a goal they never dreamed possible. I spotted people of character a mile away. These were the future leaders of our companies. I never looked at education, pedigree, or where you've been. I look at character not talent! If a person does anything with excellence, and it comes easy, I know your "gift".
